In the spring of 1874, at the end of the first year of operation of the Ohio State University, a bog to the south of the University Library was cleaned out and pools of clear spring-water formed. These pools developed into Mirror Lake. In the 1920s, this spring dried up and a much smaller pond like structure was built. Mirror Lake is still a central landmark on campus today. |
